1.- A 6-WEEK, MULTICENTER, RANDOMIZED, DOUBLE-BLIND, PARALLEL-GROUP STUDY TO EVALUATE THE COMBINATION OF VALSARTAN/HCTZ (160/12.5 MG WITH FORCED TITRATION TO A MAXIMUM DOSE OF 320/25 MG) COMPARED TO VALSARTAN MONOTHERAPY (160 MG WITH FORCED TITRATION TO 320 MG) AS INITIAL THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH SEVERE HYPERTENSION.
